Hunter offers $28.75 as the starting rate with opportunities for advancement in level and pay.
What You’ll Do:- Position parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamp parts together along layout marks.
- Select torch, torch tip, filler rod and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of metal.
- Connect regulator valves and hoses to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders, and welding torch.
- Turn regulator valves to activate flow of gases, light torch and adjust gas mixture and pressure, to obtain desired flame.
- Hold torch at proper angle to metal and guide along weld joint, applying filler rod to molten area to form weld.
- Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
- Repair broken or cracked metal objects, fill holes, and build up metal parts.
- Lay out, position, and tack weld work pieces.
- Weld along vertical or overhead weld lines.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter.
- Clean or degrease parts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Welding certificate preferred.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read blueprints and use measuring equipment.
