As an Assembler
, you will assemble metal products, partially or completely, working at a bench or on the shop floor.
- Observes and follows all safety rules
- Positions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints; fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners
- Audit production parts to maintain adequate stock to fulfill production needs
- Removes small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce a close fit between parts
- Operates hand tools or portable power tools to assist in the assembly operation
- May be required to work at different stations as production needs warrant
- Operate overhead hoist to maneuver material
- Operate Forklift to move products throughout the plant
- Operate hand tools to assemble products
- Operate power and manual pallet jacks throughout the plant
- Must be willing and able to work overtime as an extension to a normal workday or on weekends, as scheduled
- Other assignments as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or GED is required
- One year certificate from college or technical school preferred
- Up to 1 year of experience in some industry or combination of education and experience or demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to read work instructions
- Ability to use hand tools such as hand drills and air tools
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Basic skill level in computer programs such as Microsoft Office is highly desirable
