Production Utility Associate (Taylorsville, MS)
Georgia‑Pacific is hiring for a Production Utility Associate at its Taylorsville, MS Plywood facility. We manufacture pine plywood panels and siding for residential and light commercial construction, such as subflooring, wall and roof sheathing, and concrete formwork. Plywood is produced by gluing together thin layers of wood with the grain of each layer running in opposite directions, giving it a strong, durable, and warping‑resistant product.
Salary: $21.28 per hour. Night‑shift workers receive a $1.50 shift differential. Compensation can increase based on skills and plant performance. The role is eligible for variable pay.
Shift- Flexibility to work any shift is required.
- Availability for first, second, or third shift, including overtime, holidays, and weekends.
- Orientation will be on the day shift; permanent shift assigned afterward.
- Pull and lift plywood panels or scrap up to 25 pounds.
- Assemble veneer cores by layering sheets according to specified patterns.
- Assist in clean‑up, operation, and maintenance of production equipment, including machine and forklift operations.
- Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines and proactively identify potential hazards.
- Read and follow written instructions to complete assigned tasks.
- Work cooperatively with supervisors, co‑workers, and other associates to meet safety, production, and quality goals.
- Cross‑train on various machines to increase operational knowledge.
- Availability for varying hours, including different shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- At least one year of experience in a manufacturing, military, industrial, farming, agriculture, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical, or construction environment.
- At least two years of experience in a manufacturing, military, industrial, farming, agriculture, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical, or construction environment.
- Walk on elevated catwalks over 15 feet high.
- Work in a non‑climate‑controlled mill with dust, noise, and temperature variations.
- Perform tasks such as lifting 50 lbs, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to 12 hours per day.
