Music and Youth Minister

Overview

Chester Baptist Church (Ackerman, MS) is actively seeking a combination of full-time worship and student minister that is excited and eager to share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the families and visitors of our vibrant and growing church community. We average ~200 in regular attendance, offer classes and services to all age groups, actively Livestream weekend services to multiple social media platforms, and feature a richly diverse congregation.

We are aligned with the Mississippi Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and ascribe to the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message set forth by the SBC. We are seeking a candidate that can meet the qualifications set forth by the expectations for church leaders found in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5.

• Promotion and leading of three weekly services, consisting of a mix of traditional contemporary song selections with the support of a pianist, organist, and members of our adult choir.
• Work with the children’s and adult choir members to enlist, encourage, and promote our services with a special Easter and Christmas song service presented each year.
• Assist with church events (weddings, memorial services, and funerals).
• Assist with service planning (special music) and community outreach with our senior pastor.
• Ensure the Music Minister first loves Jesus and His precious Word, loves people and ministers to them through music, seeks to always present a Christ-like example, and supports our Pastor in building up the Kingdom of God.

• Lead our Wednesday and Sunday night services and Bible study for our middle and high school students.
• Plan and deliver a fun-filled quarterly Youth Fellowship event, including budgeted food and fellowship either on the church campus or an approved location.
• Ensure every student feels welcome and loved and plays a significant part in the services and events.
• Fund‑raise, plan, communicate to parents, and facilitate a winter and summer trip for the students, seeking a time of fun, fellowship, and spiritual growth for our students and chaperones.
• Look for ways to minister to youth in the community through school functions and activities, partnerships with surrounding churches, and fostering church growth via outreach opportunities with the Senior Pastor (e.g., hospital and home visitation).
