Licensed Practical Nurse

This position is with Ellisville State School and is located in Jones County. The official MSPB classification title is Licensed Practical Nurse. The working title for this position is Licensed Practical Nurse. The incumbent will provide licensed practical nursing care to individuals served in the Pecan Grove Unit. Duties include assessing and evaluating illnesses or injuries, documenting nursing care, administering prescribed medications and treatments, carrying out physician orders, communicating with individuals served, families, and healthcare staff, and assisting with appointments and other health-related needs.

The incumbent is responsible for ensuring nursing care is provided in accordance with applicable Board of Nursing rules and regulations, Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities program policies, agency procedures, and assigned supervisory direction.

To be successful in this position, the applicant should have effective organizational and time management skills, good oral and written communication skills, positive work morale, flexibility in thinking and problem-solving, and realistic expectations regarding the difficulty and challenges of the work. The successful candidate should also be able to work in an often-unpredictable environment, maintain professionalism, communicate with individuals served and healthcare staff, follow nursing rules and procedures, document accurately, and provide care in a safe and responsible manner.

Typically requires a certificate from an approved school of nursing, licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and 0-4 years of experience.
