Position Summary

An aerospace and defense manufacturer is hiring an Incoming Inspection Manager to take ownership of receiving inspection and supplier acceptance. This manager will lead the inspection team, provide technical direction, resolve supplier-quality problems, and prevent nonconforming material from reaching production.

This is not a general quality-assurance, laboratory, document-control, or software-quality position. Applicants must have direct experience leading incoming inspection personnel in aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Primary Duties
  • Lead all incoming material inspection and supplier acceptance activities.
  • Supervise, train, develop, and evaluate inspectors and quality technicians.
  • Establish inspection priorities based on production schedules, material requirements, and supplier risk.
  • Confirm that purchased products comply with drawings, GD&T, specifications, purchase orders, and contractual quality clauses.
  • Develop and improve receiving inspection plans, procedures, work instructions, sampling requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Provide technical guidance for dimensional inspection and advanced metrology activities.
  • Lead containment and investigation of supplier-related nonconformances.
  • Coordinate MRB activities and ensure proper control and disposition of rejected material.
  • Issue supplier corrective-action requests and evaluate root-cause and corrective-action responses.
  • Work with suppliers and internal departments to prevent recurring defects and production delays.
  • Track supplier rejection rates, inspection cycle time, quality escapes, corrective actions, and cost-of-poor-quality metrics.
  • Prepare the department for AS9100, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Implement improvements that increase inspection capacity and strengthen supplier performance.
Non-Negotiable Requirements

Applicants must meet all the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a directly related technical field.
  • At least seven years of progressive manufacturing-quality experience.
  • At least three years of direct responsibility for managing inspectors, quality technicians, or supplier-quality personnel.
  • Direct quality experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing.
  • Direct responsibility for incoming inspection, receiving inspection, or supplier acceptance.
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100.
  • Advanced ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and contractual quality requirements.
  • Hands-on knowledge of dimensional inspection tools and precision measurement methods.
  • Experience with nonconformance control, MRB, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and SCARs.
  • Experience supporting AS9100, customer, or regulatory audits.
  • Ability to report daily to the onsite facility near the Golden Triangle Regional Airport.

Candidates with experience limited to ISO documentation, administrative quality support, laboratory quality, software quality, or individual-contributor inspection will not be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CMM, laser tracker, portable measurement arm, or advanced metrology experience.
  • Supplier auditing and supplier-development experience.
  • Experience with complex aerospace components or assemblies.
  • CQE, CQA, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
