Position: Story Land - Retail Merchandise Receiver/Processer (Seasonal)
Location: Glen

Story Land is part of the Herschend family of attractions, a family‑owned company that has been operating since 1975. We are looking for a Retail Merchandise Receiver/Processor to support our seasonal retail team.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Welcome and greet all guests with a smile as they enter retail locations.
  • Initiate conversations with guests and assist with any questions they may have regarding our merchandise or souvenirs.
  • Maintain a general knowledge of all available merchandise to assist guests with questions regarding our products.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions and promote these events to prospective guests.
  • Resolve guest concerns in a courteous and prompt manner.
  • Operate all POS equipment accurately to finalize all purchases.
  • Ensure merchandise is well stocked, organized, and presentable for our guests.
  • Ensure the retail locations are clean and safe for our guests.
  • Refold or rehang clothing items as necessary.
  • Assist managers and supervisors with monitoring inventory control methods.
  • Keep work space clean and organized.
  • Assist with preparing product for the sales floor by ticketing items, hanging clothing, and placing corresponding size rings on hangers.
  • Process and return damaged merchandise in accordance with company policies.
  • Restock product as needed.
  • Assemble occasional product, such as grab bags.
  • Safely and properly use a step ladder to reach higher shelving.
  • Remain vigilant for possible theft from guests or other employees.
  • Notify leadership when supplies are running low such as printer paper, ink pens, trash bags, shopping bags, etc.
  • Report maintenance or safety concerns to a supervisor or manager in a timely manner.
  • All other duties assigned by leadership.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years of age to comply with New Hampshire Child Labor Laws.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from your scheduled shift.
  • Ability to comply with all uniform policies.
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must positively engage with guests to promote sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Previous experience with Point of Sale (POS) technology and PCI compliance is a plus.
  • Ability to follow direction, multi‑task, and work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Adaptive to fast‑paced environments and able to remain productive during slow periods.
  • Ability to follow direction and communicate relevant information.
  • Follow daily tasks as outlined in the food and beverage/retail standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with trucks and deliveries when needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for the majority of the workday.
  • Ability to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders.
  • Ability to use a step ladder in a safe and proper manner.
  • Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 25 pounds or more.
Working Conditions

This role will be based in one or more retail locations throughout the park, with exposure to both indoor and outdoor environments. Workers may be exposed to variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain and other weather conditions. Some exposure to dust and chemical cleaning agents is possible. The work environment can include frequent dust, chemical agents used in cleaning, and the physical demands described above.
