Cashiers are usually the first face you see when you come into the store so first impressions are important. It means something to the customer to be greeted in a welcoming and friendly manner.
Requirements/ResponsibilitiesCashiers scan each item a customer wants to purchase, using a barcode scanner or manually entering the item's code. Making sure not to miss items in the bottom of buggy and remembering to tag items too big to be bagged with a paid label.
If a customer wants to return or exchange an item, the cashier should process the request according to store policies and with manager approval.
Cashiers are responsible for keeping their work area clean and organized, including the cash register, scanner, and bags.
If a customer has a problem or complaint, the cashier should try to resolve it quickly and courteously, or refer the customer to a supervisor if necessary.
