Supervisor (Seasonal) – Story Land

The Retail Supervisor is responsible for managing operations of one or more retail locations, including training, accountability, visual merchandising, inventory controls, sales associate duties, and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily operations of the Retail and Rentals departments.
  • Act as a mentor and coach to assigned hosts, leading by example and embodying Story Land’s core values.
  • Perform essential duties of all retail and rentals positions and back‑fill as needed.
  • Participate in all supervision activities: hiring, orientation, training, performance coaching, and discipline.
  • Ensure employees receive required meal and other breaks in compliance with New Hampshire law.
  • Assist with scheduling and time‑keeping for hosts.
  • Welcome and greet all guests upon entry to retail locations.
  • Conduct opening and closing procedures, including food preparation and cleanup.
  • Manage inventory: daily stocking, order checking, and inter‑store transfers.
  • Ensure diverse product assortment and fully stocked shelves.
  • Communicate inventory needs to leadership before items are sold out.
  • Collaborate with the Retail Manager on merchandising and sales improvement.
  • Enforce departmental and company policies, including theft and counterfeit protocols.
  • Monitor cashier activity for accuracy and POS compliance.
  • Maintain visual merchandising standards and store cleanliness.
  • Track shrink, waste controls, and maintain stock par levels.
  • Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma desired; equivalent work experience considered.
  • 2+ years of retail or point‑of‑sale experience.
  • 1+ year of supervisory experience leading a team.
  • Fluent English;
    Spanish or other bilingual skills are a plus.
Requirements
  • At least 16 years old to comply with child labor laws.
  • Availability for a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Compliance with uniform policies.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to operate motorized vehicles (trucks, golf carts, forklifts, etc.).
  • Exceptional customer service and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Attention to detail and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Previous experience with POS technology and PCI compliance preferred.
  • Ability to follow direction, multi‑task, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, and remain on feet for the majority of the shift.
  • Frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders.
  • Use a step ladder safely.
  • Remain sedentary for periods while using a computer or POS.
  • Carry, push, pull, lift, or hold objects up to 40 pounds or more.
Working Conditions
  • The role is based at one or more retail locations throughout the park, with indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Frequent interruptions and requests requiring priority adjustments.
  • Exposure to variable temperatures, high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, and cleaning agents.
  • Occasional dust and chemical cleaning agent exposure.
