Campus Police Part-Time - Pool - PK
The Perkinston Campus Police Officer will report directly to the Chief of Campus Police. The successful candidate will ensure the safety of the campus community by maintaining law and order on campus and enforcing the College rules and regulations and Laws of the State of Mississippi. The officer will investigate campus incidents such as larcenies, vandalism, disturbances, as well as respond to all campus emergencies.
Job duties include answering directly to the Chief of Police, being available to work all shifts and weekends, arriving on time for duty, being armed and qualified with a duty weapon, attending all training and meetings, patrolling the campus, issuing citations, escorting faculty and students, reporting hazards, typing written reports, completing a daily log, walking long distances, performing light lifting, handling themselves professionally, unlocking and locking the campus, working independently or as a member of a team, preparing evidence for hearings, investigating incidents, and performing other duties as assigned.
Mandatory qualifications include holding a current professional certificate, ability to perform physically active duties, exceptional communication and customer service skills, experience in using computers and related software, and passing a background investigation. Desirable qualifications include three years of law enforcement experience, certifications in first aid, CPR, AED, hazardous material, NIMS, and other emergency response training, experience as an officer in a community college or educational setting, an associate's degree in criminal justice or a related field, and documented investigative training and experience.
