Overview

The Operations Specialist is based out of our Southern Natural Gas (SNG) Muldon Storage Facility located at 10156 Old Magnolia Highway, Prairie, Mississippi 39756. This position operates on a rotating shift schedule once Operator Qualifications are achieved. Primary Purpose

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of company gas/liquid pipelines, appurtenances, compressor stations, pump stations, process plants, and other related facilities.

What You Will Do

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain pipelines, storage field piping, well facilities, and auxiliary equipment such as engines, motors, pumps, dehydration units, and valves.
  • Ensure cost‑effective and efficient performance of all engines, pumps, and associated equipment at compressor stations, pump stations, terminals, pipelines, and process plants.
  • Diagnose and repair engines, pumps, seals, valves, and instruments.
  • Install, repair, service, and maintain valves, pipes, pipeline appurtenances, corrosion control systems, measurement equipment, and storage well equipment.
  • Maintain and repair all facilities and equipment, including pipeline right‑of‑way and gathering or storage areas; perform excavation, coating, painting, concrete work, and weed control.
  • Operate industrial equipment such as wheeled tractors, water pumps, air compressors, expanders, and coolers.
  • Represent the company during contacts with landowners, tenants, public officials, emergency officials, and local meetings.
  • Oversee construction and maintenance activities performed by third parties.
  • Train and oversee company personnel and third‑party staff as required.
  • Perform governmental compliance activities (PHMSA, State Agencies, EPA, USFS, etc.).
  • Perform minor electrical maintenance.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns; participate in safety programs and initiatives.
  • Develop Operations and Maintenance (O&M) procedures, site‑specific procedures, project scopes, and work plans.
  • Complete all applicable documentation and record keeping.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, regulations, and tariff requirements.
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence and maintain regular attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED required.

Specific Knowledge and Skills
  • Answer callouts and emergencies after regular business hours, including after dark hours, using a communication device.
  • Knowledge of compressors, pump stations, gas treatment, storage facilities, process plants, gather transmission, and pipeline system operations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and other diagrams.
  • Apply safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids, and high/low pressure systems.
  • Understand electrical switch gear, power distribution, electronic circuits, test instruments, and the National Electric Code.
  • Experience with storage field facility operation and maintenance is a plus.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Valid driver’s license and meet company insurability requirements.
  • May require a commercial driver’s license to operate company commercial vehicles; comply with DOT regulations.
  • May require achievement and maintenance of specific certifications to perform job duties.
  • Achieve and maintain all OQ qualifications and progression requirements applicable to the job classification.

  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, operating systems, company software).
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer focus and teamwork; follow instructions and work schedules.
  • Proficiency in English.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to enter confined spaces and climb elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways.
  • Lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions and 50 pounds from floor to waist.
