Location: Ellisville
Overview
This is a job for a Rigger position with a company located in the Jackson, MS area.
Responsibilities- Plan, lay out, and install rigging components for lifting and installing equipment, machinery, pipe, steel, etc., in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
- Serve as the designated rigger for a specific crane or lifting equipment on site when assigned, including assisting in safety moving and proper setup of lifting equipment, rigging loads properly, and signaling the equipment operator from the start of the lift to final connections using appropriate hand and voice signals.
- Develop understanding of contract plans and specifications and install equipment accordingly; read and understand plans and specifications.
- Follow established jobsite safety rules and regulations; maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Identify safety hazards and take corrective actions to eliminate or minimize hazards.
- Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, bend, assemble, and erect components for lifting, moving, and installing equipment, machinery, pipe, and steel per applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards; guide rigged items into position using a tag line.
- Use oxyacetylene cutting and welding equipment for adjustments or alterations as necessary for installation of rigged items.
- Ability to comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to understand information and perform tasks accordingly and ask questions to ensure understanding.
- Working knowledge of construction equipment, lifting devices, rigging tools, their capacities, and all aspects of the rigging craft.
- Working knowledge and understanding of different rigging techniques and methods; demonstrated capability in communicating with both the equipment operator and other craft personnel.
Employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed to perform job tasks. Regular exposure to noise, dust, varying smells, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; must be able to handle toxic or caustic chemicals safely.
Qualifications- Education Preferred:
High School or better. - Experience
Required:
NCCER or NCCCO Rigging and Signal person certification. - 3 years:
Experience as ironworker or rigger helper.
