We are seeking an Aircraft Electrician to support electrical system fabrication, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance across high-performance fighter aircraft, tactical jets, fixed-wing aircraft, and rotor-wing platforms. This role includes flight-line support, system testing, and occasional travel.
Duties:
- Perform complex assembly, installation, and troubleshooting of aircraft electrical components, including wire harnesses, connector assemblies, relay panels, circuit breaker panels, LRUs (Line Replaceable Units), and other mission-critical components per program requirements.
- Read and interpret technical publications, including job guides, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and aircraft system documentation, to support the development and continuous improvement of work instructions and processes.
- Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting on electrical systems and LRUs associated with aircraft avionics, power distribution, communication, navigation, and mission systems.
- Perform fabrication, installation, routing, and repair of control, power, video, RF, and high-density signal cables used in advanced military and commercial platforms.
- Execute COMSEC-related duties in accordance with DoD and service-specific policy, including handling, loading, and accountability of encrypted Mission Keys and secure data required for aircraft mission systems.
- Operate and maintain Secure Key Loaders (SKL) to load, verify, and manage cryptographic keys critical to mission readiness for modern tactical aircraft.
- Use both in-shop and flight-line test equipment for aircraft electrical testing, troubleshooting, and servicing, including platform-specific test sets and diagnostic tools.
- Serve as a Team Leader supporting workflow, coordinating task assignments, and ensuring accurate execution of electrical system maintenance and installation activities.
- Provide technical direction, mentorship, and hands-on training to lower-level technicians as required.
- Perform in-process inspections to ensure proper assembly, installation conformity, electrical routing integrity, and acceptance testing compliance.
- Conduct thorough Foreign Object & Debris (FOD) inspections and maintain strict "clean-as-you-go" standards to ensure aircraft safety and readiness.
- Up to 25% of travel required, including overseas assignments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's degree or completion of a technical school program in aviation, electronics, or a related field preferred.
- Formal aircraft electrical or avionics training (military or commercial) strongly desired; candidates must be able to provide documentation of completed coursework or certifications.
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license preferred.
- Previous qualification or experience in aircraft Engine Run, APU operations, or Plane Captain duties on fighter or tactical jet aircraft is highly preferred; F/A-18-series experience is considered a strong plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Foreign Object & Debris (FOD) prevention processes and mitigation practices.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on experience in the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of aircraft electrical and avionics systems across any combination of fighter, fixed-wing, or rotor-wing platforms.
- Proficiency in the use of standard electrical hand tools, including crimpers, insertion and de-pinning tools, heat guns, soldering stations, multimeters, and bonding meters.
- Must be skilled in the use of calibrated tools, precision measuring equipment, and electronic test instruments.
- Must have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
