Summary of PositionThe Drywall Laborer/Helper aids the Drywall Mechanic in performing various tasks. The Drywall Laborer/Helper is an entry level position that performs tasks through direction and guidance of others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Help transfer materials from truck to jobsite in construction site conditions.
- Load, transport, unload, and furnish experienced craft workers with materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
- Assist Mechanic with assigned tasks; hanging and securing drywall, position and install metal studs.
- Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
- Use appropriate hand (i.e. hammer, screwdriver, wire strippers, wrenches) and power tools (i.e. drills, threading machine, grinders, saws) to fit and install all types of materials and components.
- Maintains a clean work area and protects structures or surfaces near work areas to avoid damage.
- Restock supplies and materials as necessary.
- Measure, cut, and bend materials to the right size with degrees of supervision.
- Mixing compound to desired consistency.
- Cleaning and preparing surfaces for applications of materials, such as by drywall taping.
- Perform any other routine duties as directed by experienced craft workers.
- May include working at heights or in trenches or excavations as needed.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Basic hand and power tool skills
- Ability to read and use measuring tools such as tape measure
- Ability to work and communicate with others
- Analyze information and evaluate problems
- Ability to safely work at heights
- Ability to learn and follow our extensive company safety policy
- Work safely with all members of the crew
- Willingness to travel, with frequent overnight stays. Hotel and per-diem provided
