Drax is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to support reliable, safe operation of our renewable biomass and power generation assets. In this role, you'll install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems, control circuits, PLCs, and instrumentation for turbines, material handling, and process equipment. You'll perform preventive and corrective maintenance, calibrate field instruments, read and update schematics, and support commissioning of new equipment.
Working in a safety first culture, you'll collaborate with operations and engineering teams to minimize downtime, improve asset performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Calibrate, test, and document field instruments and control devices.
- Diagnose PLC, control circuit, and motor control issues using test equipment and schematics.
- Support commissioning, upgrades, and modifications of plant electrical and control systems.
- Apply strict safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout and NFPA 70
- E requirements.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering to resolve equipment issues and improve reliability.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, drawings, and documentation.
- Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives across the site.
