Performs a variety of skilled work in the operation of light, medium and some heavy equipment. Major areas of responsibility are, but not limited to: repair, removal, installation, and maintenance of rigid and flexible pavement; support repairs to base infrastructure, base signage, and security fencing. Responds to emergency repair calls to restore operations upon notice during regular hours or after duty on-call hours.

Responsibilities
  • Operates construction equipment and small industry related power tools to excavate, load or move materials in support of base maintenance and infrastructure repairs and returning the site to its original condition after repairs.
  • Maintain, remove, install and make repairs to rigid and flexible pavements to include site preparation, forming, placing, finishing and sealing.
  • Make temporary and or permanent repairs to base fencing.
  • Operators will install and maintain street signage.
  • Maintains required operating forms and records and assures proper and safe use of all assigned shop equipment.
  • Able to read and interpret Work Orders, parts requests, drawings/schematics/blueprints and manuals in order to accomplish assigned duties.
  • Position is classified as mission essential and requires employee to shelter at work location and to respond to disasters or other contingency operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid, State Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Ability to pass National Agency Check (NAC) background investigation.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience operating equipment.
  • Documented experience working with concrete and pavements.
