Position Summary Vie Med Healthcare Staffing is recruiting Youth Court Intake Officers to support the Mississippi Administrative Office of the Courts as part of Mississippi's statewide Youth Court reform initiative. Youth Court Intake Officers serve as an initial point of review for matters referred to Youth Court. Working primarily within a professional court environment, Intake Officers conduct preliminary screenings, gather and evaluate information, communicate with involved parties, document findings, and assist in determining appropriate Youth Court intake actions.
This position is well suited for professionals with backgrounds in social services, behavioral health, criminal justice, human services, or related fields who demonstrate strong assessment, documentation, communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation and Contract Details
- Base pay: $30.25/hour
- The position will observe applicable Mississippi state holidays, and staff are generally expected to be off on those dates.
- Anticipated contract end date:
June 30, 2027 - The contract may be extended based on continued program needs, funding, performance, and client approval.
- Approximately 18 Intake Officer positions are anticipated statewide.
- This is an onsite, court-based contract position.
Primary Responsibilities Youth Court Intake Officers will:
- Receive and review referrals submitted to Youth Court.
- Conduct preliminary intake screenings and inquiries.
- Gather information regarding the circumstances and best interests of children and families referred to Youth Court.
- Assist in making determinations regarding appropriate Youth Court intake actions.
- Communicate with affiants and other parties involved in Youth Court matters.
- Collaborate with local Youth Court Intake Units, judges, attorneys, court personnel, law enforcement, schools, service providers, and other Youth Court partners.
- Document all relevant contacts, activities, findings, decisions, and actions associated with each referral.
- Ensure the accurate, complete, and timely entry of Youth Court intake information.
- Perform data-entry, data-management, and reporting responsibilities.
- Timely submit required Youth Court intake data and activity information to the assigned Intake Supervisor.
- Maintain complete, objective, accurate, and court-appropriate records.
- Protect highly sensitive and confidential information involving youth and families.
- Follow standardized Administrative Office of the Courts intake policies, procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Participate in required training, coaching, quality reviews, and professional development.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Youth Court Intake Officers will work under the supervision of an Administrative Office of the Courts Intake Supervisor or Manager. County Coverage and Work Setting
- Intake Officers will generally provide coverage for approximately 3–4 counties and their respective Youth Courts.
- Staff will not necessarily report to every assigned court each day.
- Daily work locations will be based on referral volume, court schedules, workload, and operational priorities.
- Staff must report in person to designated court locations.
- State-issued work equipment will be provided.
- Travel between assigned court locations is required.
This Position Does Not Routinely Include
- Traditional Child Protective Services investigations.
- Home visits.
- Foster care case management.
- Ongoing protective services.
- Child removals.
- Transportation of youth, family members, clients, or other individuals.
- Routine client-to-client field travel.
Intake Officers may communicate with youth, family members, affiants, and other involved parties as necessary to complete intake responsibilities. However, the role is primarily focused on court intake, preliminary assessment, documentation, coordination, and data management.
Minimum Education Requirements Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in one of the following areas or another closely related behavioral or social science field:
- Social Work
- Psychology
- Sociology
- Criminal Justice
- Human Services
- Counseling
- Family Studies
- A comparable behavioral or social science discipline
The educational requirement is necessary because the position involves professional assessment, preliminary inquiry, analysis of information, documentation, and the exercise of sound judgment regarding matters referred to Youth Court.
