Safely and efficiently transport products from the warehouse by driving a tractor‑trailer to various customers, and properly deliver and unload products according to customer invoices and company standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Unload product from trailer by hand or using a hand cart on ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions, and place in designated customer storage areas according to specifications.
- Ensure all paper work is completed according to established company and governmental guidelines, including DOT logs, inspections, maintenance reports, and pre‑ and post‑trip reports.
- Ensure all food safety protocols are met, maintain sanitary conditions in tractor and trailer, and assist with warehouse sanitation.
- Develop and establish good relationships with customers by providing excellent, courteous service and clear communication.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent degree.
- Completion of a tractor‑trailer driving school may be accepted instead of or in addition to a high school diploma.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License, insurable to operate the vehicle as a condition of employment.
Knowledge of: DOT regulations;
Hazmat guidelines; safe lifting and delivery practices.
Skill in: driving over long distances, varied terrains and weather, communicating with customers, solving problems, and delivering products.
Ability to: drive a tractor‑trailer unit day and night, meet productivity levels, handle hazardous materials, operate a 3‑axle tractor and 45‑48 foot trailer, read and speak English, perform basic math, and plan and organize work independently.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSRegular sitting, talking, hearing; lifting up to 50 lbs by hand and pushing up to 350 lbs with a hand cart; climbing in and out of tractor and trailer; stacking, unstacking pallets; reaching; bending, twisting; meeting vision requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENTOccasional exposure to wet, hot, extreme cold, humid conditions, confined spaces, high places, fumes, airborne particles; moderate noise; overnight schedule with weekends, holidays, overtime, on‑call, and variable start times required.
