Responsibilities- Weigh trucks in and out, record information, and take grain samples
- Grade grain and electronically record grades, splits, and other required data
- Perform office administrative support tasks
- Participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre‑shift meetings
- Comply with OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations, and wear appropriate PPE
- Identify inbound trucks and direct them to the appropriate location
- Weigh out empty trucks and record information accurately
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers while keeping the truck line moving
- Complete documentation promptly, accurately, and legibly
- Label and store samples according to facility protocol
- Perform general clean‑up of the scale/probe house and the work area
- Carry out other duties as assigned (never outside the operation)
- High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- No prior experience required; preferred: 1 year in an industrial environment with a dependable work record
- Grain grader and/or weighing certificate required; if not obtained before hire, must be obtained in time applicable to perform job duties
- Working knowledge of computers and software
- Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
- Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Strong multi‑tasking ability and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to follow direction and use logical thought process to interpret instructions and troubleshoot problems
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
- Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally
The role requires continuous standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, crouching, crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Employees must be able to balance constantly, lift 3 lb samples frequently, and lift 30 lbs occasionally to continuously, as needed. Other physical demands include: maintaining concentration, distinguishing grain characteristics, entering data on a computer, grasping and reaching repeatedly, wearing PPE, meeting PFT and fit testing requirements, communicating verbally and in person or via two‑way radio, understanding written instructions, working extended hours, weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts, operating in high dust environments, and quickly adjusting to changing conditions.
EnvironmentalConditions
Work is performed both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Employees frequently use personal protective equipment. Travel of 5%–20% may be required for off‑site training or work at alternate locations.
CompensationBase pay range: $16.00 – $25.00 per hour. Actual pay may vary based on location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
