Shipping/Receiving Clerk – Byhalia, MS
Job OverviewResponsible for preparing orders for freight, sorting freight into subplants, and arranging express or parcel post shipments in accordance with shipping practices and requirements. Assembles and checks orders, packs and crates, and attaches or stencils shipping instructions. Enters receiving slips into computer for any material delivered, makes labels for each box, and stacks on skids based on delivery area.
Essential Job Functions- Ensures packing lists, bills of lading, express receipts and other system entries are accurate and entered into the computer.
- Manually loads and unloads trucks and freight cars as necessary.
- Visually analyzes and verifies correct weights of items on bills of lading and express tickets.
- Receives oral and written instructions and follows them through to completion.
- Accurately prepares daily shipping reports.
- Receives and signs for materials, verifies count and description; enters receiving tickets into the computer.
- Receives written and oral job assignments and instructions from supervisor.
- Uses barcode system, scan guns, printers, and label machines for shipping transactions.
- Obtains and maintains certifications for overhead crane and forklift operation.
- Works shift, overtime, and weekend work as required.
- Performs other assignments as required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- SAP experience required.
- One or more years of work experience in a lean/continuous improvement environment preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends.
- General mechanical experience maintaining equipment preferred.
- General organizational and time‑management skills.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills essential.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to take initiative and anticipate needs; work independently with minimal guidance.
