Description

The Mansfield Center invites applications for a Program Manager to join their team. The Program Manager is a multi-faceted role at the Mansfield Center, ensuring that international programs run smoothly, with high impact for international participants as well as the many U.S. stakeholders involved in the programs. This position works on a variety of international exchange programs providing direct support to participants as well as serving as a liaison between U.S. partners, community members, and UM colleagues.

The Program Manager is an integral member of the Mansfield Center team who contributes to a quality work environment.

The primary focus of the position is supporting the planning, implementation, and conclusion of international programs that serve hundreds of participants each year. This position organizes and troubleshoots program logistics, program activities and events, and establishes and maintains program procedures to ensure successful program implementation. Success in the role depends on maintaining accurate records, coordinating multiple concurrent tasks, and consistently executing recurring program processes with attention to detail.

of Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages participant and program records by maintaining accurate data, confidential documentation, and program information using databases and electronic systems.
  • Coordinates program logistics including travel, lodging, transportation, vendor contracts, budgets, timelines, and deliverables for multiple concurrent programs.
  • Coordinates and implements program activities by managing participant communications, events, virtual programming, and community and campus engagement opportunities.
  • Supports program communications by developing and distributing participant materials, presentations, social media content, and other program resources.
  • Provides program coordination and operational support throughout planning, implementation, and reporting to ensure successful program delivery.
  • Builds collaborative relationships by serving as a liaison with campus partners, community organizations, and program stakeholders while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Supervises student employees and supports program evaluation by training staff, managing alumni engagement, monitoring compliance, and analyzing evaluation data.
  • Performs administrative and office operations including maintaining files, coordinating supplies and equipment, and providing front-office support.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma and two (2) years of closely related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to diverse audiences and maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain efficient organizational systems while managing recurring operational processes across multiple program cycles.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), databases, and office technology, with the ability to learn new software platforms and project management tools (e.g., Asana).
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team while providing outstanding customer service and supporting colleagues as needed.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends during peak program periods, and to escort participant groups during moderate to strenuous outdoor activities.
  • Capacity to escort participant groups during outdoor activities, including but not limited to mountainous hikes and whitewater rafting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of closely related experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Experience coordinating logistics, events, or complex operational processes requiring a high degree of organization and attention to detail.

Compensation

Title:

Program Manager I

Union: FOCUS-MFPE

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Typically Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year.

Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum

Benefits Include: Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.

Must be eligible to work in the United States upon hire. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
