The
Project Estimator
isresponsibleforpreparingdetailedcostestimatesforcommercialconstructionprojects.
Thispositionreviewsplansandspecifications,performsquantitytakeoffs,coordinatessubcontractorpricing,andworkscloselywith
Project
Managersthroughoutthebiddingprocess.
Occasionaltraveltoprojectsitesisrequired.
- Maintainscurrentandfutureprojectbidlists:
Maintainsestimatinglogofcurrentbiddingprojectsandfuture/potentialprojects.
AssistsinlookingatWEBpages,newspapers,andotherpublicationsforfuture/potentialprojects.
Obtainsplansfromowner/engineering firms. - Collectsinformationfortheestimate:
Reviewssitewith Project Managertonotepotentialrisks .Assistsincalculatingjobquantities. - Studiesandunderstandsplansandspecifications,includingestimatingassumptions,productionrates,andmethodsofconstruction.
Assistsinrequestingsubcontractorquotes.
Obtainsbidderslist. - Makessafetyakeyfactorinbiddingbyincludingcostsoftrenchboxes,confinedspacedetection,safetymeetings,etc.,andotherprojectsafetyneeds.
- Bachelor’sdegreein
Civil
Engineering,Construction Engineering,Construction Management,orarelatedfieldpreferred(orequivalentexperience). - Minimumof5yearsofestimatingexperienceinheavy civilorcommercialconstruction.
- Abilitytoreadandinterpretconstructiondrawings,specifications,andcontractdocuments.
- Experienceperformingquantitytakeoffsanddevelopingaccuratecostestimates.
- Knowledgeofconstructionmeans,methods,materials,andproductionrates.
- Experiencesolicitingandevaluatingsubcontractorandsupplierbids.
- Proficiencywithestimatingsoftware,Microsoft Office,andotherconstruction-related applications.
- Strong analytical,mathematical,and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational,communication,andtimemanagementskills.
- Abilitytomanagemultiplebidsandmeetdeadlinesinafast-paced environment.
- Self-motivatedwiththeabilitytoworkindependentlyandaspartofateam.
- Valid driver’slicensewiththeabilitytotraveltoprojectsitesasneeded.
