VP of Operations - Multifamily

A growing affordable housing developer is seeking a Vice President of Operations to build and lead its newly established construction platform. This is a unique opportunity to establish the operational foundation of an in-house general contracting business while overseeing the delivery of large-scale LIHTC multifamily and townhome developments throughout the Western U.S.

Responsibilities:

• Build and lead the construction division, including staffing, systems, and operational processes.
• Recruit and manage project managers, superintendents, and field personnel.
• Oversee all phases of construction, including preconstruction, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, execution, and project closeout.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Develop long‑term operational strategies to support a growing pipeline of multifamily developments.
• Partner with development, design, and external project teams to coordinate permitting, procurement, and construction activities.
• Support expansion into new markets and oversee multiple concurrent projects.

Qualifications:

• Extensive leadership experience in multifamily or commercial construction.
• Proven success building and managing construction teams and operational systems.
• Experience delivering complex, multi‑phase projects valued between $20-50M+.
• Strong expertise in construction scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and cost controls.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills.
• Experience with affordable housing and LIHTC developments preferred
• Experience with startup or high‑growth construction organizations is preferred
• Experience managing projects across multiple geographic markets is preferred
