Civil Engineer in Training

As a Civil Engineer-in-Training or Designer, you will be an integral member of the design team, contributing to the preparation of construction documents for civil site projects. This role utilizes AutoCAD and Civil 3D as primary drafting and design tools. You will gain hands‑on experience with site development systems, including grading, drainage, and water/wastewater design, across a variety of building construction projects.

The position offers mentorship under the guidance of senior engineers, providing exposure to best practices and professional growth within the civil consulting field.

The expected salary range for this position is $
70,000 to $
78,000 annually.

• ABET accredited degree in Civil Engineering
• 0-5 years job related experience
• Has Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
• Base knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam, Outlook, Microsoft Office. Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work with engineering concepts in real world applications
• Strong technical writing skills
• Ability to do basic calculations
• Understand the fundamentals of civil engineering
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Work under the direction of a licensed project engineer
• Plan layouts of small projects and coordinate with other departments
• Provide basic research into jurisdictional requirements
• Preparation of project plans and specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office
• Preparation of engineering calculations
• Preparation of technical memorandums and reports
• Construction administration including, but not limited to, onsite field observation

Actual pay will be determined based on the candidates years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job‑related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.

The majority of the time, a person in this role will be sitting in an office with limited physical requirements. This may require individuals to bend, stretch, twist, and reach.
