Overview
HDR Engineering seeks an experienced Irrigation Leader to head its irrigation practice, coordinating, managing, and executing the planning and design of hydraulic/irrigation projects. The role involves leading a team of professionals, managing deliverables, client relations, budgets, QA/QC, and project reviews.
Responsibilities- Direct and coordinate work of single or multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage all aspects of complex small to medium projects or routine large projects.
- Produce and manage several small to medium projects concurrently.
- Establish and maintain client relations, participate in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
- Conduct work sessions for deliverable development with staff and stakeholders.
- Coordinate staffing and workload for the entire project life cycle, ensuring on‑schedule delivery.
- Track financial aspects, adjusting work effort to stay within budget and schedule parameters.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Operations, and Business leadership for periodic project reviews.
- Implement QA/QC procedures.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Master's degree.
- 10+ years civil engineering experience, emphasis on design and irrigation.
- Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
- Experience in planning studies, design, and irrigation.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Professional or engineering registration and related technical experience in managing diverse teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
- Active participation in an employee‑owned culture.
- Desirable experience: water storage reservoirs, pumping plants, river diversions, conveyance and control facilities, hydropower, erosion control, business development related to irrigation projects, and work with irrigation districts, the Bureau of Reclamation, NRCS, Bureau of Indian Affairs and Tribes.
- Proven ability to mentor and supervise staff.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 7+ years related experience.
- Minimum 2 years project management experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
- MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience a plus).
- Demonstrated leadership skills.

The expected compensation range is $110,656–$158,080 annually, depending on skills, experience, education, and location.
