HDR is an employee‑owned firm that builds and innovates in Building Engineering Services. The Electrical EIT/Designer role is part of HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group, supporting the design of critical infrastructure for digital‑age facilities, data centers, and commercial environments.
Responsibilities- Perform assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of electrical engineering techniques and procedures.
- Work directly with owners to develop recommendations.
- Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
- Write or edit electrical specifications, select equipment and electrical devices.
- Take on contract administration responsibilities requiring field inspections and conflict resolution.
- Make decisions on significant design and engineering features as needed.
- Function as a Project Manager on small and mid‑size projects as needed, but project management is not the principal focus of the position.
- Supervise work of Electrical CAD Technicians and coordinate design of assigned projects with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines as needed.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering with an electrical emphasis.
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering consulting firm.
- Data center/mission‑critical project experience.
- Experience with some or all of the following: electrical devices and circuits, control schematics, electrical diagrams, electrical systems theory.
- Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office, and familiarity or willingness to learn electrical design software.
- Experience with Auto Desk software including Revit and/or AutoCAD.
- Candidates living near the Boise, Idaho area are preferred.

- EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of “Designer” and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
- Preference given to local candidates.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an electrical emphasis.
- Desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain registration.
- Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power.

CompensationThe expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. Montana: $67,000–$91,000.
