Senior Financial Analyst – Strategic Finance & Special Projects

In this role, you will serve as a high‑impact analytical resource for onX’s most senior leaders. You will work directly at the direction of the CEO, CFO, and Senior Director of FP&A on the company’s most complex, ambiguous, and consequential financial and strategic questions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead end‑to‑end analysis on special and ad‑hoc projects assigned by the CEO, CFO, and Senior Director of FP&A, focusing on operational and business performance across the company.
  • Perform financial modeling and analysis to evaluate organic and inorganic growth opportunities, new business lines, pricing strategies, operational investments, etc.
  • Manage ad‑hoc projects including market sizing, scenario modeling, and long‑term strategic opportunity assessment, as directed.
  • Develop and stress‑test business cases for major strategic initiatives, providing leadership with a grounded view of expected returns and key assumptions.
  • Independently source, extract, and manipulate data from multiple internal and external sources using tools such as Tableau, Pitchbook, Amplitude, and SQL.
  • Partner closely with the Business Intelligence team to build scalable data pipelines, improve data accessibility, and inform the development of analytical infrastructure supporting the broader finance function.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related analytical field.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in finance, strategy, investment banking, management consulting, or a related analytical function.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency – comfortable writing complex queries and extracting insights from large datasets.
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities (scenario analysis, sensitivity modeling, DCF, ROI frameworks).
  • Experience working directly with or embedded near a Business Intelligence or data engineering function.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in high‑ambiguity environments with minimal direction, structuring problems from scratch and driving to actionable conclusions.
  • Exceptional written communication skills – ability to produce narrative‑format analyses and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Proven comfort presenting complex analyses to C‑suite and senior executives, handling pushback and adapting on the fly.
  • Desire to learn and actively leverage AI tools to improve analytical speed and quality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple high‑priority projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in a B2C SaaS or subscription business is strongly preferred.
  • Permanent U.S. work authorization is a condition of employment.
  • Shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values.
Preferred (Optional) Qualifications
  • MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • M&A, corporate development, or investment banking experience.
  • Preference for candidates located in Salt Lake City, Missoula, or Bozeman.

This position can be performed from an onX corporate office in Montana or from a Basecamp. Preference is given to applicants located in the greater Salt Lake City area.
