Overview
Availity is a leading healthcare engagement platform that provides revenue cycle and related business solutions to health care professionals. This position is located remotely in the United States.

Responsibilities- Design, implement, and manage secure, high‑availability database systems in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Ensure database performance, security, and availability across active production systems.
- Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and optimize queries.
- Implement and enforce database security protocols to protect sensitive healthcare data in compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and PCI DSS.
- Collaborate with IT, development, and compliance teams to support business objectives.
- Maintain documentation for database architectures, processes, and compliance activities.
- Stay current with advancements in cloud database technologies and healthcare data regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 4+ years of database administration experience.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL and MySQL; experience with Oracle and MS SQL Server is preferred.
- Proficiency with AWS and experience managing large fleets of AWS RDS and Aurora databases in production.
- Strong SQL query language skills;
No
SQL experience is a plus. - Knowledge of database security best practices and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, HITECH, PCI DSS).
- Programming and scripting skills, e.g., Python, Terraform; experience with Lambda is a plus.
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty are desirable.
