The University of Montana invites applications for a Marketing and Communications Manager for the Phyllis J. Washington College of Education
. Directly reporting to the Associate Dean of the College of Education and indirectly to the Director of Strategic Communications in Marketing, Communications, Experience and Engagement (MCEE), the Marketing and Communications Manager provides strategic marketing and communications support for the University of Montana with primary responsibility for the Phyllis J. Washington College of Education. The role collaborates closely with peer marketing generalists, college and unit leadership, and MCEE colleagues to advance strategic priorities and ensure alignment with institutional goals.
- Create and execute a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy for the College
- Serve as the project manager for the College’s day-to-day marketing and communication responsibilities as well as long-term efforts directed by college leadership
- Collaborate with MCEE colleagues on undergraduate and graduate student recruitment, alumni and donor relations, brand development and positioning, internal communication, content and digital strategy in line with the College’s plans
- Manage relationships with various internal and external stakeholders and create content in coordination with MCEE for the College’s academic programs, student organizations, alumni programs and related programs
- Support the creation and editing of university-wide communication
- Supervise interns and student workers as necessary
- Collaborate with College leadership and MCEE to build and enhance a sub-brand and set of positioning themes to guide content strategy
- Coordinate digital advertising and purchasing
- Manage college/unit websites
- Oversee marketing campaigns for undergraduate, graduate, and online programs, managing both inbound and outbound strategies
- Collaborate closely with the UM Alumni Association to plan, execute, and amplify alumni communication and engagement efforts
- Serve as the primary point of contact and author for all College internal campus-wide announcements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the College with the Office of the Provost to develop content for Academic Affairs communication
- Bachelor’s degree and five years of work experience in marketing and communications
- Ability to plan, coordinate, develop, schedule, and deploy digital content
- Demonstrate proficiency with written and verbal communication and social media content development
- Ability to work with students both as employees, sources and subjects
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and maintain good communication and relationships with various stakeholders and internal customers
- Ability to establish and maintain clear lines of communication with students, campus departments, outside agencies, businesses and the public
- Ability to supervise multiple projects, establish production schedules, set priorities, manage deadlines and assign various tasks
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, sensitivity and professionalism
- Finalists for the position will be required to complete a timed writing and editing test
- Experience in higher education communication.
- Broad knowledge of the University of Montana and Missoula communities.
- Working knowledge of media production and graphic design software.
- Knowledge of web and graphic design programs
