The Wound/Ostomy Nurse Coordinator is a registered nurse who coordinates and oversees clinical wound care activities in an inpatient hospital setting. The role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality care for patients with wounds and ostomies, while managing program operations and patient discharge planning. This position requires organizational and leadership skills, clinical nursing experience, and compliance with nursing standards and hospital policies.

Description

The Wound/Ostomy Coordinator is a registered nurse responsible for the operation of the clinical activities of the Wound Care in the inpatient setting. Under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager, this position holds responsibilities for coordination of clinical services to provide consistent quality care for patients with wounds and ostomies in the inpatient settings. The Coordinator collaborates closely with physicians, outpatient and inpatient health care professionals.

Responsibilities include utilization of skills in organization, leadership, planning, implementing, evaluating and providing care of adult and geriatric clients. The Coordinator works within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act and follows all hospital policies and procedures. The Coordinator complies with hospital and nursing philosophies/standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities. The Coordinator supports the goals and objectives of the hospital.

The Coordinator plans for program operations and inpatient care, as well as patient discharge needs to proceed smoothly at the highest quality. Requires organizational skills for the program operations. Prioritizes at a high level of work output and takes initiative for continuous improvement of quality in a fast paced, stressful, rapidly changing environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training:
    Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Upon hire:
    Montana Registered Nurse License
  • Upon hire:
    National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
  • 2 years clinical experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Upon hire: CWOCN
  • Wound care experience
