Position Summary
Wyo Dak Energy Services is seeking motivated and hardworking Fiber Optic & Underground Utility Laborers to join our growing construction team. This position supports the installation of underground fiber optic infrastructure and utility systems by assisting equipment operators, directional drill crews, and foremen with all phases of underground construction. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, values safety, and is eager to learn new skills while contributing to high-quality projects.
Projects are primarily located throughout Wyoming and surrounding states. Travel may be required depending on project location.
Essential Job Duties
- Assist with the installation of underground fiber optic conduit, telecommunications infrastructure, and utility systems.
- Perform trenching, excavation, back filling, grading, and site restoration.
- Hand dig around existing utilities when necessary.
- Assist directional drill operators and locator crews during bore operations.
- Load, unload, and organize construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Install conduit, handholes, vaults, pull boxes, and other underground utility components.
- Safely operate hand and power tools.
- Assist with traffic control and jobsite setup.
- Read and follow utility locate markings.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Follow OSHA and company safety policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous construction, utility, telecommunications, or fiber optic experience preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
- Ability to safely use construction tools.
- Strong work ethic.
- Willingness to travel.
- Ability to work overtime.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 75 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb.
- Work outdoors in varying weather.
- Work around heavy equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fiber optic construction experience.
- Underground utility experience.
- OSHA 10/30.
- CPR/First Aid.
- Equipment operation experience.
