Role Overview:
The Fiber Splicer-Outside Plant Construction is responsible for installing, splicing, testing, and documenting outside plant fiber optic facilities. This includes operating fusion splicers, OTDRs, and light testers to ensure quality standards are met. The role involves troubleshooting buried and aerial fiber, repairing cables, and coordinating with construction teams to complete projects on time.
Key Responsibilities:Install fiber enclosures, perform splicing and testing, identify faults, and maintain documentation. Read construction plans, communicate updates, and support project closeout activities. Maintain equipment and assist Field Services as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:Minimum 1+ year experience in fiber optic or related telecommunications installation, splicing, and testing, or military service. Valid driver's license, ability to climb structures, lift heavy loads, and work outdoors in varying conditions. Organizational skills, ability to multitask, and willingness to work overtime are essential.
Physical & Work Environment:Must regularly handle tools, climb structures, lift up to 50 pounds, and work outdoors in diverse weather conditions. Exposure to high-risk environments, loud noise, and heavy equipment is common.
