LND Technical Services, LLC is seeking a skilled Civil Structural Engineer to support utility‑scale power projects across the U.S., including substations, transmission, distribution, and renewable energy facilities. This role may require travel and offers the opportunity to work on complex, high‑impact projects in the power and utilities sector.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in civil/structural design, analysis, and field support, with experience applying industry codes and standards to deliver safe, cost‑effective, and reliable solutions. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support project execution from design through construction, and occasionally provide on‑site technical guidance to ensure quality and compliance.

Job Summary

The Civil Structural Engineer is responsible for providing engineering design, analysis, and support for utility‑scale power projects, including substations, transmission lines, distribution, and renewable energy facilities. This role involves designing structural systems, foundations, and site layouts that meet technical, safety, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of civil/structural engineering in the power and utilities sector, experience with applicable codes and standards, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, cost‑effective, and reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities Engineering & Design
  • Perform structural analysis and design of foundations, steel structures, concrete, and equipment supports for substations, transmission lines, and related facilities.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Conduct site grading, drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control design.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes (ASCE, AISC, ACI, NESC, local building codes).
  • Review and stamp engineering drawings (PE required, or working toward licensure).
Project Support & Collaboration
  • Provide civil/structural engineering support throughout all project phases: feasibility, design, permitting, procurement, and construction.
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and project management teams to ensure seamless coordination of designs.
  • Support proposal development, cost estimation, and schedule planning for civil/structural scope of work.
  • Review vendor and contractor submittals for compliance with project specifications.
Field Support & Quality Assurance
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and field assessments to support construction and resolve issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting for construction teams.
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes are applied to civil/structural deliverables.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure all designs and construction activities meet federal, state, and local regulations, as well as client specifications.
  • Incorporate safety, reliability, and sustainability into all engineering practices.
  • Support environmental permitting and compliance efforts where civil/structural work is involved.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 5 – 10+ years of civil/structural engineering experience in the Power/Utility industry (substations, transmission, renewable energy, or industrial facilities).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (able to sign off on drawings).
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as STAAD Pro, RISA, SAP
    2000, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (ASCE, ACI, AISC, NESC, IEEE).
  • Excellent problem‑solving, technical writing, and communication skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with EPC projects and working with utility clients.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical engineering and soil‑structure interaction.
  • Experience coordinating with contractors and managing subcontractors.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, and copier.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and by telephone.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally, as required by the position.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials such as laptops, documents, or equipment (typically up to 20 lbs.).
  • Ability to work in varied environments, including office settings, client sites, and meeting or conference venues.
Required Abilities
  • Able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
  • Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.
