Solar Winds Engineering Specialist opportunity in the St. Louis, MO area (relocation assistance may be considered for non-local candidates who are well-qualified).
- Daily responsibilities to be performed on location at Scott Air Force Base.
- Position is contingent upon issuance of award from Federal Government customer (expecting near-term).
- Position lifespan is directly tied to duration of active customer contract (anticipating a Base Year + Four Option Years award).
- Facilitate implementation and configuration of client Solar Winds product deployments.
- Provide client with business process focused customization of their deployed Solar Winds products.
- Deliver training on Solar Winds products and broader monitoring principles to client.
- Analyze business requirements and design value-add Solar Winds implementation solutions.
- Prominent knowledge of all Solar Winds applications and modules. Initial baseline training will be provided.
- Perform system related diagnosis based on monitoring results
- Conduct product-level root cause analysis and help guide client through Solar Winds support process to address identified opportunities.
- Perform as a regarding the use of Solar Winds products as they apply to key industry technologies.
- Active Top Secret security clearance is required.
- TIAA Security+ certification is required.
- 2+ years of experience with hands-on server and network administration for medium or large businesses.
- 2+ years of experience with industry-standard monitoring technologies like SNMP and WMI.
- Experience in high availability system configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Experience with third-party technologies other than Solar Winds is a plus:
- Wireless controllers & AP’s
- Storage Appliance
- Hypervisors
- Nagios
- Service Desk
- Etc.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring concepts. This includes monitoring, alerting, reporting, and dashboards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience detailing technical solutions to administrators, end-users, and leadership.
- Strong understanding of SNMP, SNMP traps, and Syslog is a plus.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Windows Server OS administration and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of network and switching foundations and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work effectively in an office-based team.
