Senior Accounting Consultant

We are partnering with a growing software company seeking a remote Senior Accountant (Audit & Close Support) to join their team.

In this role, the consultant will support the external year-end audit process and ongoing accounting operations, partnering closely with the accounting team and external auditors. This individual will play a key role in preparing audit schedules, managing PBC requests, supporting journal entry analysis, and maintaining technical accounting documentation. This opportunity is well suited for professionals who are comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced environment and who bring a strong foundation in general ledger accounting and audit support.

Compensation: $55–$70 per hour

• Support the external year-end audit process, serving as a key liaison between the accounting team and external auditors
• Prepare and review PBC (Prepared by Client) schedules, supporting documentation, and audit request deliverables
• Manage audit administration, including tracking requests, coordinating responses, and ensuring timely submission of materials
• Assist with preparation and roll forward of accounting memos and supporting technical documentation
• Build supporting analyses and reconciliations for journal entries and assist with booking audit adjustments as needed
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, schedules, and other supporting documentation for monthly and quarterly close
• Partner with internal accounting team members to gather documentation and ensure completeness and accuracy of financial reporting support
• Track open audit items and follow up with appropriate stakeholders to ensure resolution
• Contribute to process improvements related to audit readiness, documentation, and close efficiency

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including public accounting or external audit support
• Strong experience supporting external audits, including preparing PBCs and responding to audit requests
• Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation
• Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and accounting schedules
• Prior experience working with external auditors (Big 4 experience preferred but not required)
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple audit deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
