Position Summary
The Staff or Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing multi-state sales tax compliance, supporting internal billing activities, and assisting with core accounting functions including month-end close and financial reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments.
Key Responsibilities Sales Tax & Compliance- Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns in compliance with state and local regulations
- Monitor and stay current on changing sales tax laws and requirements across jurisdictions
- Support sales tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities
- Reconcile sales tax general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of tax accruals
- Review and post internal repair or service orders
- Verify billing data for accuracy and completeness
- Resolve billing discrepancies in collaboration with internal teams
- Prepare and analyze billing reports to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Assist with development and enhancement of billing policies and procedures
- Perform monthly audits of invoices processed by various business units
- Support month-end and year-end close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
- Assist with external audit requests and documentation preparation
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
- Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a mid- to large-size organization
- Strong experience with multi-state sales and use tax compliance and filings
- Experience with internal or intercompany billing processes
- Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
