Description Robert Half Finance & Accounting Contract Talent is currently seeking a Senior Accountant for a growing organization in the St. Louis area. This is an onsite, temp-to-hire opportunity created due to an upcoming retirement. The current employee will remain in the role during the transition period to provide training and ensure a smooth handoff. The company is seeking a seasoned accounting professional who is looking for a long-term opportunity and can become a key member of the accounting team.
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing the company's largest customer account, preparing financial reporting, performing account reconciliations, and supporting the monthly close process. This position will work closely with a team of accountants and accounts payable professionals while partnering with leadership to provide accurate and timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and administer the company's primary revenue account, including monthly revenue reconciliations and analysis
Prepare and post journal entries related to prepaid expenses, accruals, insurance, and other general ledger activity
Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
Prepare internal financial statements and supporting schedules
Support external auditors and tax advisors by providing requested documentation and schedules
Monitor financial activity and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
Collaborate with accounting staff and department leaders across the organization
Assist with accounting system conversion activities as the company transitions from MAS 500 to a new Sage platform
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business with an accounting emphasis
8+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
Experience working with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, onsite team environment

Monday through Friday, flexible hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM

- At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience in increasingly responsible roles.
- Strong background in month-end close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Experience preparing financial statements and supporting schedules for internal or external reporting needs.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, including spreadsheet-based analysis.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies, organize detailed records, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in an onsite team setting.
