The Financial Specialist is a key member of the financial leadership team for the plant. Responsible for maintaining financial control procedures, systems and standards as may be required for the proper performance of the accounting function within the limits of approved company practice. The Financial Specialist is an active resource in keeping the Plant Manager, Plant Controller, and other members of the staff apprised of deviations, analyzing performance and bringing best practices to the plant.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for plant accounting and reporting functions for facility.
- Assist in the month-end closing process including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of general ledger accounts and expense accruals.
- Will assist in the preparation of manufacturing and capital budgets/forecasts.
- Routinely monitors manufacturing expenses and reports results to the Plant Controller and Plant Manager.
- Coordinates with corporate accounting to resolve vendor issues and is responsible for providing accurate and timely accounts payable information.
- Will assist in the control of weekly cycle count and annual physical inventories. (Including physical observation of inventory)
- Maintains fixed assets monthly reporting.
- Examine payroll, accounting, and financial information to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to procedural and reporting standards and report variances to the Plant Controller.
- Responsible for the daily functions when Controller is out of the plant.
- Assist and review Open POs and work with procurement and accounts payable to ensure all open orders are current.
- Perform daily production entry, receiving and shipping in ERP systems.
- Receive goods from packing lists including reviewing for proper receiving documentation on paperwork: reviewed, signed and dated.
- Process hourly payroll weekly for transmission to Corporate.
- Review payroll time systems for accurate information.
- Assure proper approvals of time sheet per internal controls.
- Prepare and review payroll reports for management.
- Maintain up-to-date SOPs for payroll processing.
- Train supervisors on proper payroll procedures.
- Perform other responsibilities and duties that are assigned by Plant Controller.
Education, Experience,
Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting with 3 years' experience (Preferred).
- Proficient with MS Excel (Required).
- Knowledge of JD Edwards, Accounts Payable and Payroll (Preferred).
- 1-2 years manufacturing experience which could include an internship (Preferred).
- Highly motivated individual with good communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to interface with all levels of employees.
- Good computer skills including use of Word, Excel, JDE and other software.
- Initiative and willingness to take on multiple projects.
- Able to climb steps, walk through the facility, and wear appropriate PPE for weekly inventory.
