Payroll Compliance Associate

The Audit and Assurance Department of one of the fastest-growing accounting firms in the country is seeking a Payroll Compliance Associate who is motivated to learn, excited to collaborate and passionate about delivering outstanding results. This role focuses on supporting the firm’s payroll compliance audit function, ensuring compliance with union agreements and related contractual contributions. The successful individual will be analytical, detail-oriented, adaptable, and a strong communicator.

Prior payroll compliance audit experience is not required; training will be provided for individuals with strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Familiar with collective bargaining agreements and other related agreements
• Knowledge of payroll and tax documents
• Communicate findings and information requests clearly and professionally with employers and fund representatives
• Analyze payroll, accounting, and employment records using Microsoft Excel and other software tools
• Identify trends, discrepancies, and exceptions through data analysis and professional judgment
• Follow up with employers to resolve and/or obtain representations regarding any potential discrepancies
• Prepare preliminary and final reports noting the findings of the payroll examination
• Manage multiple examinations simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data organization, analysis, and reconciliation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to build professional relationships with employers, clients, and team members
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities
• Ability to adapt quickly to new situations, industries, and client environments
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
• Self‑motivated and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively within a team
• Experience with payroll processing, bookkeeping, accounting, auditing, human resources, or compliance functions is beneficial but not required
• Willingness to learn collective bargaining agreements, payroll reporting requirements, and payroll compliance examination procedures

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will also be considered
• Advanced computer proficiency with MS Office Suite

Salary Range: $55,000—$65,000 USD
