Salary: $6,646.00 - $8,740.00 per Month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Position overview

The Associate Tax Auditor is responsible for independently handling moderate to difficult level refund claims under the supervision of the Supervising Tax Auditor II. The incumbent will become familiar with:

  • California Revenue and Taxation Code
  • CDTFA Audit and Compliance Manuals

As an Associate Tax Auditor (ATA) in the Refunds Section, you will review and analyze the validity of claims for refund, perform account analysis, and gather information and documentation related to the basis of each claim in accordance with applicable tax laws, regulations, and annotations.

You will have the opportunity to learn and apply California tax laws while developing communication and auditing skills. Additional information about the job is available in the Duty Statement.

Telework and leave

Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California. Telework/hybrid schedules require reporting to the office a minimum number of days per week. Schedules are subject to change. All Salaries are subject to the State of California’s Personal Leave Program as provided by the 2025 Budget Act.
