Vernon, BC is seeking an Accounting Technician to start immediately.

Education:
College diploma in accounting, bookkeeping, or equivalent
Experience:
1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience

The Accounting Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the day-to-day accounting functions of the organization.
This role contributes to the financial integrity of the company through proper recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance with applicable legislation and company policies.
Responsibilities Accounting & Bookkeeping- Maintain financial records and establish, maintain, and balance accounts using manual and computerized systems
- Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, including bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare trial balances and assist with financial statements and working papers
- Maintain general ledgers and ensure accurate financial data
- Process invoices, verify transactions, and manage accounts payable
- Prepare and issue invoices and follow up on receivables and collections
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with payroll preparation, including calculating wages and deductions
- Prepare and submit statutory remittances including payroll deductions, GST/PST, and other filings
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Generate financial and management reports as required
- Maintain organized and secure filing systems
- Provide general administrative support to the accounting department
- Completion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a similar role
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Sage, or equivalent) and Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Office-based environment
- Extended periods of computer and desk work
- May require additional hours during peak reporting periods
