Accounting Manager

Location: Ballwin

The Accounting Manager will be a key financial leader within the organization, responsible for managing all accounting and financial reporting aspects. This individual will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reporting, accounting, and compliance activities across multiple entities. The role demands a high level of proficiency in consolidating financial information, managing inter-company transactions, and developing financial strategies that align with the organization’s broader goals.

The Accounting Manager will oversee the general ledger, prepare financial reports, conduct reconciliations, and ensure taxes and reporting are completed accurately and on time.

Essential Job Functions Financial Reporting and Compliance:

Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and provide required information and documentation.

Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards and remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation.

Operations and Internal Controls:

Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts Payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.

Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.

Manage the company’s liability insurance policies to ensure adequate coverage that protects the company against claims and risks associated with its operations.

Strategic Financial Management:

Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior managers by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.

Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to the current economic landscape.

Lead the strategic review of all upcoming contract renewals, including service agreements, supplier contracts, and partnership arrangements. Assess existing contracts’ terms, performance, and cost-effectiveness to determine renewal, renegotiation, or termination strategies.

Perform detailed financial analyses to understand the impact of contract renewals on the budget and financial forecasts. Ensure contract terms align with financial planning and the company’s strategic financial goals.

Manage the budgeting process, including preparing forecasts and analyzing financial data to support business decisions.

Leadership and Team Development:

Directly manage and oversee the accounting team, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Office Manager, ensuring a collaborative and productive work environment.

Manage and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

Collaborate with operational teams to assess and mitigate risks that could impact the company financially.

Technology and Process Improvement:

Implement and utilize accounting software and systems to streamline processes.

Monitor and analyze accounting data to improve financial performance.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a small to medium-sized company, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Knowledge of construction accounting, and project-based accounting is highly advantageous.

Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.

Proficient in accounting software and systems, with a keen aptitude for learning new technologies.
