Position OverviewWe are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing key aspects of the company's financial operations, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, month-end and year-end closing, and account reconciliations. This role will work closely with both senior leadership and the accounting team to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Review financial reports for accuracy and assist in the preparation of management reports.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations, ensuring that all balances are in line with expectations and resolving discrepancies as necessary.
- Lead or support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial statements are finalized and ready for review within set deadlines.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining internal controls and accounting policies to ensure compliance with regulations and safeguard company assets.
- Support the preparation of tax returns (corporate, sales, etc.), ensuring timely and accurate filing in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Calculate and file state sales tax returns as required.
- Provide necessary documentation and assistance during external audits, ensuring a smooth audit process and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, reclassifications, and other financial adjustments as needed.
- Assist with variance analysis and support management in budgeting and forecasting activities. Provide insights on financial performance to improve decision-making.
- Collaborate with other members of the accounting team and various departments to ensure accurate financial data and resolution of financial issues.
- Manage the payroll process and other HR functions as needed.
- Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably with experience in public accounting-auditing.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting procedures.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, SAP, or similar ERP systems).
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
