Covered California is seeking a Supervising Management Auditor (SMA) to provide policy and management oversight for team members responsible for internal and external audits, compliance program implementation and monitoring, quality assurance improvement, and Audit Committee reporting. The SMA will lead the delivery of internal audits, ensuring that audit activities are thorough, effective, and aligned with organizational priorities. This role will collaborate closely with the Deputy Director/Chief Audit Executive to communicate audit results, findings, and issues to the Audit Committee.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento County, 1601 Exposition Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95815. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquarters office subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. Travel expenses associated with commuting to the employee’s office headquarters location are not reimbursable, other than authorized transit subsidies.

Working ConditionsThis position may be eligible for telework. In accordance with Government Code section 14200, only employees who reside in California are eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Covered California’s current telework policy. While Covered California supports telework, in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises, as determined by the Department.

Desirable Qualifications- BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk Assessment, Health Care, or closely related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and/or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP).
- Minimum of 5 years of related leadership management experience, preferably in health care program auditing, internal auditing, or public accounting.
- Strong leadership and management skills with a demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and evaluate high-level team members to meet strategic goals.
