Qualifications

The school registrar must have a high school diploma or GED. He/she must have proficient skills in typing, word processing, and file maintenance. Proficient use of computers and general office equipment is necessary. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Experience working with students and families is preferred.

The registrar will report directly to the building principal.

Duties
  • Assist with registration and pre-registration, including regular school years and summer school.
  • Meet with parents and register new students for entry into the school system.
  • Communicate with building counselors, secretaries, and principals regarding the enrollment details and status of a new student.
  • Process paperwork for student transfers outside the school district.
  • Exchange student information with other schools, colleges, employers, agencies, and organizations.
  • Meet with parents and students to prepare paperwork to withdraw students from school.
  • Prepare a cumulative folder for each new student enrolled.
  • Answer the telephone, take messages, provide information and assistance to district personnel and the public regarding student enrollment issues, and relay calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Utilize student database, Microsoft applications, Canvas and Google programs, internet research, and other technology.
  • Operate office equipment associated with department activities.
  • In accordance with state and local requirements, assist in maintaining student transcripts and academic achievement records for all students including those currently enrolled, dropped, moved, graduated, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of information and records.
  • Promote positive school/community relations.
  • Assist with data entry related to Core Data.
  • Complete and maintain Social Security paperwork for students receiving Social Security benefits.
  • Check the status of lunch accounts, Social Security information, and parking permit possession of withdrawing students.
  • Perform any other duties requested by the counselors, principal, and assistant principals.
