Business Services Officer I (Supervisor)
Salary: $5,429.00 - $6,719.00 per Month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of an alternate range when applicable.
Location:
Sacramento, California. This position is headquartered in Sacramento and is not eligible for telework.
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of a Supervisor II, the Business Services Officer I Supervisor (BSO I Sup) is responsible for the Mail & Reprographic Services Unit (MRSU). The BSO I Sup plans, organizes, and directs the daily operations of the MRSU, providing critical mail, courier, reprographic, and customer support services to the California Lottery. The incumbent supervises staff, oversees operational workflows, ensures compliance with postal regulations and departmental policies, and performs technical duties requiring specialized knowledge of mail processing and reprographic equipment.
The position ensures timely, accurate, and secure processing of incoming and outgoing materials while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Supervise staff and manage daily operations of the MRSU.
- Plan, organize, and direct mail, courier, and reprographic services.
- Ensure compliance with postal regulations and internal policies.
- Provide technical expertise on mail processing and reprographic equipment.
- Maintain accurate and secure processing of all materials.
- Deliver superior customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform physical tasks including bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and general workplace mobility.
- Current Business Services Officer I (Supervisor) exam.
- Valid California driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
- Experience supervising a mailroom or similar team.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer applications (Microsoft Excel and Word).
- Ability to apply organizational and time‑management skills.
- Independent judgment and problem‑solving abilities.
- Experience providing customer service.
- Effective delegation skills and willingness to share ideas.
- Technical knowledge of reprographic and mailroom equipment.
- Organizational skills applied to assignments.
- Effective use of time‑management skills.
- Willingness to share ideas and remain open to new approaches.
Schedule: Core business hours 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; overtime may be required for special projects or business needs.
Travel: Occasional local travel for operations support, vendor meetings, training, or courier activities.
