Classification: Nonexempt, classified
Pay rate: Based on Experience;
Base rate to be determined
Working hours: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Position Type: Part‑Time
Summary
The lunchroom cashier and cafeteria assistant supports cash sales of school lunch and breakfast each day and accounts for all meals per day in reports. They work closely with contracted food service employees (currently OPPA) and assist in the preparation and distribution of food each day.
Qualifications- High school graduate or GED
- Must successfully pass a background check
- Keyboarding skills required
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to learn SIS K-12 database program for lunch count
- Write simple correspondence and tally reports related to food service
- Speak with members of the public, students, and staff members
- Calculate figures: addition, subtraction, division, percentages
- Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Proficient in Tyler SIS for accessing lunch accounts
- Strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
- Submit online reports to state and federal agencies
- Learn new systems and software
- Strong interpersonal skills; safeguard confidential information
Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; frequently walk and use fingers and controls; occasionally stand, reach, bend, and lift up to ten pounds; close vision to view a computer screen for extended periods. Attendance must be consistent and regular. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Conditions and EnvironmentThe work environment requires management of students and regular assistance to staff. Some areas can be loud; moving boxes of food in and out of cold storage may be required. Generally indoors in a temperature-regulated environment. Business‑casual dress minimum: jeans with a school shirt; appearance should be clean and presentable.
