This is the first of three levels in the Accounting Support series. Incumbents perform routine accounting support tasks. Responsibilities may include reviewing invoices, purchase orders, travel advances, and related documents for appropriate documentation, coding, and signatures; preparing purchase orders; entering data; reviewing data entered and correcting errors; filing documents; preparing and mailing checks; preparing deposits; compiling data for auditors; ordering supplies;
and responding to routine questions. Tasks at this level are performed within defined procedures and policies.
- Receives, reviews, prepares, and processes a variety of accounting and/or financial documents, which may include accounts payables, accounts receivables, purchase orders, timesheets, travel documents, invoices, payments, deposits, and/or other related documents.
- Enters a variety of financial information into spreadsheets and/or databases.
- Completes, tracks, and/or maintains a variety of records, logs, ledgers, and files.
- Posts financial information into appropriate accounts; reviews and resolves discrepancies of data entered.
- Prepares a variety of basic accounting reports related to assigned area of responsibility utilizing established guidelines; disseminates information and reports to appropriate individual(s).
- Performs administrative/clerical duties which include mailing correspondence, faxing, writing memorandums, gathering, and compiling information, scanning, and copying documents, and/or performing other related duties.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.
RequirementsEducation and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and two years office experience, including experience with accounts payable and/or accounts receivable; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Licensing Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License as per State law or requirement

Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
