Description
The work study students assist staff and students in the use of library resources, perform cleaning duties, and provide additional/supervised coverage during evening hours. The position lasts throughout the fall and spring semesters on the Trenton, Missouri-Main Campus.
Responsibilities- Greet and assist people when entering the library in a professional and welcoming manner and provide accurate directions or assistance.
- Assist with shelving books and other materials.
- Staff the circulation desk and assist with answering questions.
- Support the office with event planning, preparations, communications, and projects.
- Help with administrative needs including office tasks, general inquiries, organizing, general cleaning duties, and customer service.
- Perform other related duties and office tasks as assigned.
Skills:
Punctuality, a welcoming and approachable demeanor, willingness to learn about the NCMC catalog and databases to help students. Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills and the ability to work with a wide range of students.
Physical Demands:
Moving about between buildings on the NCMC campus, ascending and descending stairs, reaching, pulling, and pushing when filing. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and remain stationary at a desk for extended periods while typing and answering phones.
Environmental Demands:
Fluctuations while walking on tile and carpeted floors in a heated and air‑conditioned environment.
