$3,861.00 - $6,464.00 per Month

Under the direct supervision of the Employee Services Branch Chief, the Student Assistant Administrator will assist the division in fulfilling administrative or technical tasks as assigned by the department. Additionally, they will support the Student Assistant Program along with the Career Fair and Training Programs. The incumbent manages the Caltrans Student Assistant Program and serves as the primary point of contact for students, supervisors, Human Resources, and third-party entities.
The incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, evaluating, and continuously improving the Division's statewide training programs, which include leadership, management, supervisory, and rank-and-file training. May be required to perform various administrative duties, special assignments, outreach programs, volunteer initiatives, and wellness activities. Carry out other responsibilities as needed to meet business objectives.
Personal Leave Program:
Effective July 1, 2025, state employees are subject to temporary salary reductions ranging from 2% to 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave Program (PLP) hours. Please note that the salary ranges listed in this Job Control may not reflect these reductions associated with the 2025 Personal Leave Program. The salary ranges may be reduced accordingly.
This position may be eligible for telework. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considerations apply.

- Must have knowledge of principle and modern methods of public administration, organization, and business management; training analysis, techniques, and contract administration; effective oral and written communication techniques; and modern office methods.
- Must be familiar with personal computers and know Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Skills and abilities
needed include analyzing data and situations, reasoning logically and drawing valid conclusions, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, communicating effectively verbally and in writing, learning computer applications using databases and spreadsheets. - Must also be able to handle a variety of tasks efficiently and be able to organize and plan for events or training courses.
- Incumbents must be able to work independently and will be accountable for decisions made.
- The incumbent will be privy to sensitive and confidential information and is expected to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be able to work in a high-stress environment, meet tight deadlines, and lift and/or maneuver 50 pounds to lift equipment and classroom materials.
- Will also consider Analyst II.
